What an awesome photo! This image by beekeeper Reed Beatse shows honey bees festooning below a comb from his top-bar hive. Festooning is always fun to see, but these bees are amazing. The weight of four bees plus a chunk of comb with honey is all supported by those middle two bees and the tiny hand clasp (tarsal claw clasp?) between them.
It makes me wonder what they were planning. Were they going to pull it up? Attach it? Move the honey out of it? Whatever the plan, they’ve got it under control. Thanks, Reed, for a great shot.
This is an outstanding photo! Love it!! Thanks for sharing!!!
It is very wonderful!
